Regen on Demand
This feature allows you to stop faster and more smoothly while charging your battery pack simultaneously. In a gasoline or diesel-powered vehicle, when you hit the brakes, the kinetic energy produced by your vehicle’s motion is wasted, as it’s converted into heat and dissipates. In addition, the force and pressure used to bring your vehicle to a stop cause the brake pads to wear faster.
On the LYRIQ, when you take your foot off the accelerator, the electric motor that powers your vehicle turns into a generator. The kinetic energy from the wheel’s movement is converted into electrical energy to recharge the battery and extend your driving range. You can increase the amount of energy recaptured using the pedal on the left-hand side of your steering wheel or by activating One-Pedal Driving via a button on your display.
Fast Charging Battery
The battery is the heart of any EV, as it powers the motor or motors that move your vehicle. The LYRIQ has a modular battery design that saves weight and packs a large electricity storage capacity into a small area. In addition, they’re designed and engineered for fast charging due to their specialized lithium-ion chemistry.
You can use both DC Fast Chargers and Level 2 AC chargers, depending on your available time. Depending on the power output from the charger, you can gain 12 to 55 miles of range from an hour of AC charging or 15 to 110 miles in ten minutes using a DC Fast Charger.
